OUR HISTORY


Maeba, our name is an idiom of the southern seas that contains a greeting and an augury, "goodbye and best of wishes!", which has brought the Saporiti family great things in the past, and hopefully for many more years to come.

Our history in textiles begins almost a hundred years ago, with the first sales of materials on the outskirts of Varese by great-grandfather Giuseppe (1928) immediately followed by Rizieri Saporiti, highly respected merchant of clothing and furnishing fabrics, followed by Angelo who makes himself available to the largest Venetian garment makers as a textile representative, capable of creating an agency which, already in the 80s had found an innovative way of developing and promoting collections of the best Italian textile production firms and beyond.

In 1980 he founded Maeba srl which dealt with purchasing inventories from large companies and relocating them on the market to small players; initially born as a way of providing its suppliers with a new fabric collection service in stock lots, it subsequently become a way to create a new destination for all those materials that otherwise would have improperly left the market.

A further expansion of Angelo’s knowledge of the fashion system was possible after a few years of experience in Prato in which he established and managed his own production of wools and wool blend fabrics mainly destined for international markets. In 2006 Angelo, with a more significant operational involvement of Savina, as well as advice on style and trends from Martine, Maeba is able to focus on a completely innovative project for the wholesale of fabrics which is entirely different and superior to the past both in terms of objectives as well as the methodologies.

Following a long family history as salesmen and women, the Saporiti family has been able to fully grasp the possibilities and opportunity of each of the different fabrics collected, always adding value to the already high-quality fabrics. Through this great opportunity, Maeba’s clients are able to creatively construct complete collections at even cheaper prices, with no limitation on creativity and fabrics that are immediately available.

Thus, MAEBA INTERNATIONAL was born with a total area of 10,600 m2 and an inventory of over 3 million meters of fabric in over 35,000 articles; in the Showroom, strongly desired and opened in March 2018, the most trendy and prestigious fabrics available are displayed; in a second warehouse, items with small availabilities are displayed while in the OUTLET, inaugurated in October 2018, there is an immensely wide range of items at extremely advantageous prices.

 Researching, Collecting, Selecting, Computerizing, Organizing, Controlling, become the usual verbs that allow Maeba International to fully develop its project of creating an always updated and renewed sample room which, through its duly coded article swatches, allows its customer to have a truly remarkable overview of the fabrics available.The large sample room, as well as the rolls displayed in large wooden tables, meticulously divided into categories with great care and professionalism, allow the customer to enjoy the advantage of touching the immense variety and availability of materials.The customer who accesses Maeba International enjoys the privilege of being welcomed in a completely new structure by our multilingual staff that is perfectly capable of directing and accompanying the clients in the research and selection of the desired fabrics, a pivotal component for our customer service efforts. For customers who are unable to access our warehouses, Maeba International has optimized the creation of customized samples sets based on each individual request, which is quickly made and sent to the respective client for an accurate evaluation and feedback. 

 

OUR MISSION 

 

Maeba International's mission is to enhance the full potential of all the fabrics it manages to recover, bringing them back to the market at an extremely competitive price, in order to allow an immediate use by those customers who, due to the common difficulty in finding small quantities of fabrics (especially good quality materials), would have otherwise given up on the development of small and large fashion projects.The goal that Maeba International has set itself is therefore the ability to reach as many audiences as possible by making all its professionalism and uniqueness widely available. By increasing the presence at fairs through innovative partnerships and by encouraging the development of national and international collaborations, our company tries to make our immense textile heritage cultivated and structured so far, more accessible to small emerging companies, such as designers, schools and fashion universities.
